Mum

Your kind words guide me, your gentle hands wipe away my tears

you fight fiercely to protect me from all my fears

You are my mother the one who brought me into the world

No one can break the bond we have

Even through the bittersweet memories

and the many roles you fulfil

you looked after me through the many times I was ill

and I am a reflection of all the love you have shown

You were my only friend in times when I was alone

You encouraged me when I felt like breaking

you took me places to see the world and you made me awaken

You still tell stories and give me words to tell

Mum in my heart you will always have a space to dwell

You lighten the weight on my shoulders

You make me feel as if I can take on anything now I am older

Mum you are the one who has time for me even when life is cluttered full

you gave my life more joy than I can ever appreciate still.

Every wise man sings the blues

This is the life my habits choose

love might be be a losing game

but don’t fear the bruise.

there may be choice

where you hear your own voice

and know for certainty

your own adversity

and grow towards the light like a plant

learn that music flows through you like a dance

There maybe suffering here

Every wise man may sing the blues

but at least he knows he’s yesterday’s news

and our children’s children are the future we have to protect

Mother Earth has to be given love and respect

in the eyes of every living creature

is that love we hide

But it’s as constant as the seas tide

flowing back and forth

As we stride searching for the answers

which have been in us since the start

eyes of wonder

and big hearts.

A mother to her child

They took your innocence
and they left you with a hole
they made a pretence
and then took your soul
you were made to bear children
they made it your occupation
they made you want to be beautiful
attractive to the eye
they made you need a man who could protect you
but he controls you and makes you cry
this is not a verse which lies
make sure you keep your wisdom
make sure your beauty is kept in your souls secret garden
if there ever is frost in your heart make sure it doesn’t harden
make sure you pass on life’s truth to your children
it isn’t fair but your children control the future within their lives
A piece of you is in them woman don’t let it hide.

Days of austerity

These are the days where you’d sell your own mother to get by
Austerity a cancer that causes us to die
Everyone working for themselves
Just to afford to buy cigarettes and alcohol from shop shelves
We have no time for those who lose life’s game
They are nameless and die in pain
For being poor is a disability in it self
Wealth is freedom and stealth
To hide your bank accounts in tax havens
You found your heaven
Look away all you gamblers who bank on a chain of lucky sevens
You’ll be ruined like cheques in the rain
We are lost, we cannot change
For we are all fighting for small change
and you don’t have a twenty pence to your name…

Borrowed earth

In the dark discarded night
When you wish you still had all your fight
You rest on a tear stained pillow
Outside your house the weeping willow
Kisses the river bed
Shedding it leaves
To those who still believe
In the magic of Mother Nature
We are caught in the rapture
Of our own dreams
Which filled our lives with polluted streams
We are jet black and hollow without nature
We are filled with jet black sorrow for our children’s children
Who cry for the earth which was borrowed and lent
and never meant to be spoiled
By our digital dreams.

Love is our truth

Wounded warrior put away your guns and blades
Don’t you know that truth cannot be enslaved?
Even if we fight it’ll shine through
In the actions that we do

Put away your violence
In the silence of room
No matter the darkness
The light will always pierce through the gloom

Love is the connection between us
Fight fear with love make it go away
Love is constant it is the energy in atoms
That binds reality together
Love of mother universe who’s image we are created in
Fear is missing the target of our purpose to love each other

Forgiveness rises like a Phoenix making our hearts begin again
Though our tears fall like rain
Make them tears of joy and not pain.
