The shadow behind the sword

In the words we say, a shadow longer than midday sun is cast

Beyond the grave the sword that saves us from the axe

Beyond the taxes and tax collectors in this country vast

though we are but mortals

the books we read our portals

to lives we’ve never lead

our blood runs thick and red.

The shadow behind the sword

is the words we said sincerely

they are the nearly

meant songs of another world

A parallel world when utopia was cast

into years that lasted.

My guide

My guide

I know you won’t believe me.

I know you probably won’t see things from my point of view

I know your heart is beating faster than freight train

but I am you.

As the universe divides and fragments

I can see things that were meant and never meant

that were and never were

in your eyes,

the dreaming of starry skies

the Sunday morning rainbows

the sun that glows

the words permeating your story’s pages with ink

the way we sunk and sink

into grasping the everlasting

you by no means are not a failure

you are the sea the ship I sail on and yeah

I know it’s a sea of salty tears

blown by the winds of love and overblown fears

but you are my guide

a force I cannot hide

as I take my strides

you are my power of three

and my truth I long to see.

Politicians

Card board cut out of humans

would you choose them?

they deny, won’t answer the questions why

because fake news and lies

are easier than

telling us, we fucked up man!

all across the lands

they cling to power

while the environment goes sour

and pollution paves the way

for all our graves

and science to them doesn’t mean a thing

because they are dreaming of fat salaries

from corporations

and tax breaks for themselves

shopping carts and working class elves

we are broken when we can’t tell the truth

they hide behind a smoke screen aloof

but we should get the children asking the questions

because it’s their world not these clandestine people

who yearn for power and are evil.

Hallucinations

Hallucinations in my mind

carelessly unkind

stories in time

lies told

the truth smeared like ink

the pen tangled with delusions

confusing skin

I close my mind you enter in

the night howls

I cower

hour by hour

will the sky fall

I dream for us all

or it seems that way

I hallucinate a story

I cannot tell

my own personal hell

and yet heaven resides in there as well.

Halluc-in-nation

You dream a nation

where freedom exists

here’s a bomb here’s a fist

here’s a Judas kiss

Here’s a fakery a fake news story

here’s a page 3 star

here’s cars which burn rubber

and men and women who slumber

You dream of a nation

where all are equal

without a dystopian sequel

you get regret

paths delusions you shouldn’t of met

if you can’t live with your neighbours

how can we have saviours

if we can’t tell corporations to pay taxes

then maybe we should sharpen our axes

and yet the rich get richer

and they stitch up

Our bodies in bags

drag us away

Did I hallucinate a brighter day

when all we need is so simple

and yet the ripples

for that day get further away

and dissipate

Into merely nothing

were we bluffing when we fought

to gain rights

or is it that tv dreams

and Pc and phone screens

are so much of a distraction

that we can’t get a meaningful interaction

between all of us

we curse and cuss

but we just hallucinate distrust

the nation we want

still lies in us.

Truth and life

Sadness doesn’t stain skin

or truth pierce a heart

but I reckon you will feel sadness is life’s art

and contrasting happiness

although not merely pain alleviated

I meditate,

I mediate

between the angel

we try to be

and the devil

who’s eyes we see in the mirror

the constant battle

between letting go

and belonging to the life you know.

Petals

The petals which open

the heart awoken

then begin to decay

the love is the same love

as I had first

leaves me cursed

and yet singularly its all I have

a smash and grab

god singular

going for the jugular

a vampire

who’s name has no meaning

blood wine

and bread flesh

can’t contain

the rain that falls

Or the sun that shines

but from your diamond tears

I form mine.
